With summer firmly underway, Londoners have experienced a week-long heatwave followed by flash floods and thunderstorms.

Fortunately, the month of August looks set to bring us some seasonal sun replacing the torrential downpours according to AccuWeather.

Although temperatures won’t soar to the high twenties and thirties, we can look forward to a bearable 24C forecast giving us pleasant warmth and sunshine.

The first week of August won’t exactly be picnic weather with rain showers predicted for five out of the seven days from August 1.

It is set to be quite muggy and wet with temperatures predicted to reach 22C despite the wet weather.

But don’t be too quick to throw away that bottle of SPF as it will probably come in handy for most of August.

As the rain is set to clear this will make way for sunnier skies and 24C heat.

Accuweather predicts that we should experience a complete U-turn with highs of 24C on the August 11 and 12.

Following the torrent of rain, Londoners should not despair as it will be followed by the hottest week of the month.

So be prepared to see beer gardens full and alfresco dining in full effect that week as the 13th and 14th will also treat us to 23C on the Friday and 22C on the Saturday.

On August 19, 20 and 22 temperatures will also soar to highs of 23C, so it might be time to get the barbecue out.

The rest of the month will hover between 20C and 22C with not a drop of rain in sight which is what we all want to hear.

So with smooth sailing predicted, it’s time to get organising on how to best enjoy the lovely weather ahead.

How do you plan on enjoying the hot weather? Let us know in the comment section here.
