Joe Absolom is a well known actor who played a role as Mathew Rose in EastEnders and as Al Rose in ITV’s popular drama Doc Martin.
The 42 year old actor from Lewisham first arrived in Albert Square in 1997 and later left the soap in 2000 after a successful three years- even winning a best actor award for his performance.

Although you may have thought that this was the very first acting role in Absolom’s career- it is not in fact as the actor appeared in a commercial seven years prior to EastEnders.
A young Joe Absolom appeared in a peanut butter commercial for the brand Sun Pat that ran in the early nineties.
His grin and innocence act is the complete opposite of the serious and villainous roles he’s took on.
In EastEnders, his character was involved in many explosive and eventful storylines but the one that he is most recognised for is the murder of Saskia Duncan who he was framed for although it was actually Steve Owen who had committed the crime.
We saw an enraged Mathew plot his revenge on the evil villain threatening to kill him for what he had put him through.

In the showdown between the pair- Steve confesses to the murder and admits to Mathew being wrongfully convicted and offers compensation as a final plea for his life.
He takes the money and leaves a desperate Steve and shortly after, leaving Walford but that wasn’t the last we saw of Joe Absolom who graced our screens multiple times over the years.
The star was recently in ITV crime drama The Bay were he played Andy Warren in six episodes.
