The beautiful seaside towns near London we all need to visit now as they ‘could be underwater in just 30 years’

Scary as it sounds, climate change is a real thing and this tiny island we call Britain will be seriously affected by it within our lifetimes.

Specifically, staycations on beaches near London are under threat as water levels are predicted to rise so much that large portions of coastal land could submerge.

According to Climate Control, which forecasts climate change across the world, several beaches across Essex, Kent, Sussex, and Suffolk could be at risk of disappearing entirely by 2051 if water levels continue to rise.

Kent

Kent’s beaches are at serious risk of being cut off from the mainland, as the areas surrounding the popular Margate are likely to be underwater in 30 years’ time.

Danger zones include Sandwich Bay, Pegwell Bay, and Reculver – cutting off the coastal areas of St Peters, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate.

Sussex

Sussex could be partially submerged in the decades to come

As water levels rise, Sussex’s beaches could shrink considerably, as the south coast is in danger of sinking below the water’s surface.

Danger zones include Rustington, Ferring and Shoreham-by-Sea.

Suffolk

Suffolk’s beaches are in danger

Of the four areas we are examining, Suffolk’s beaches seem the least at risk of submerging, however, the beach areas are still likely to shrink considerably as climate change affects water levels.

Thorpeness, Orford, and Aldeburgh are all likely to suffer as a result of rising water levels, so get your holidays booked in the next 10 years (or sort out your carbon footprint).

Essex

Essex’s collection of gorgeous beaches could well end up under the sea by 2051 at the rate water levels are rising.

Of all the areas we looked at on Climate Control, the East Coast was the worst affected, with large danger zones present in Foulness Island, Burnham-on-Church, Bradwell-on-Sea and Dengie National Nature Reserve all forecast to be seriously affected.
