With on-screen couples it’s often the kiss that really sells it.
It doesn’t matter how well the back and forth is, when it comes to locking lips if they look like two mannequins falling into eachother, the audience won’t be convinced.
Sparks need to fly which can be all the harder if the actors have been good mates for years, as is the case for one EastEnders couple.

The two actors have said they struggled with Jack and Ronnie’s kissing scenes
Ronnie Mitchell, played by Samantha Womack, appeared on the show in 2007 as another addition to the well established Mitchel family.
Her two stints on the show (2007-11 and 2013-17) were highlighted with plenty of drama (of course) and her on-again-off-again relationship with Jack Branning, played by Scott Maslen.
The fictional romance flaired up after the two went in together running the Walford’s nightclub.
But when it came to kissing the two actors ran into some problems.
This is because Scott and Samantha have been best friends since their teen years.
In fact Scott is also very good friends with Samantha’s husband Mark Womack and is even the godfather to their two children.
And that made the moments they kiss all the harder to act out, reported the Metro.

Scott said: “Sam made such a big deal about our first kiss.
“I wasn’t too bad. It’s weird because it’s like kissing my sister, but we’re actors, we just get on with it.”
But Sam suggested he didn’t play it as cool as he let on.
She said: “That’s not how it was at all! Scott tried to lie about being freaked out, while I was very honest and verbal about it.
“He pretended he was fine and then forgot his lines for the next three takes!”
Samantha and Mark quietly split up in 2018 but have remained living together with their two children.
