Investing.com – The edged higher on Friday in quiet trade. The blue-chip index had its fourth consecutive weekly gain, its longest run since November.
The hit a record high, supported by Babcock (LON:) whose shares rallied after they disposed of their Frazer-Nash Consultancy subsidiary to KBR (NYSE:) for £293 million. The defence company said the sales is part of the targeted disposal programme which aims to generate at least £400 million of proceeds in the next 12 months.
At the other end of the spectrum was Avon Protection (LON:), whose shares plunged after warning that order delays would impact revenue this financial year and next. The company, recently known as Avon Rubber, has cited the impact of COVID-19 as part of the reason for the lower revenue forecast.
