After a hard day’s work on the set of one of Britain’s most loved soaps, one would hope that the actors fold away their costumes and go on to live a quieter life away from affairs and cliffhangers.

Some quality time with friends and family away from murderous, drug dealing on-screen fathers or untrustworthy boyfriends.

Well at least that seems to be the case for EastEnders star, Louisa Lytton who plays Ruby Allen, the daughter of the deceased drug kingpin Johnny Allen on the soap.

In between heavy storylines in Albert Square, the actress kept herself busy both on and off screen by becoming a certified barber as well as appearing in the cult classic comedy – American Pie – and starting a family.

Lousia joined the soap as a teenager and later left Walford after her character’s father died of a heart attack induced by her boyfriend Sean Slater’s provocations.

In typical EastEnders fashion, Ruby Allen waved goodbye to The Square from the back seat of a black cab in 2006.

The star went on to grace the set of The Bill and Casualty as well as various other stints on television shows.

But the star hit Hollywood in 2009, playing the role of Imogen in American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, a continuation of the US hit teen film.

Though the 32-year-old often found work, it seemed that at times the work was not enough and so the Londoner decided to take up barbering in 2014.

Speaking to her legion of social media followers, the actress told them how she received a diploma in foundation barbering when she became out of work.

Louisa said: “Let’s talk about when I’m out of work and I decide I want to do other things like barbering.

‘I don’t think I’ve cut anyone’s hair since my dad’s in 2014 when I passed.’

The star reprised her role as Ruby Allen in 2018 much to fans’ delight, even beginning a steamy romance Jay Brown as well as heartthrob Max Branning, played by Jake Wood.

Away from the cameras, Louisa found her own real-life heartthrob in the form of her partner – Ben Bhanvra who is said to be model but officially works as a director at a marketing company.

The couple got engaged in 2019 in the Maldives after Ben whisked Louisa away for her 30th birthday.

But the pair had decided to cancel their nuptials after Covid-19 made it a logistical nightmare, which she revealed on ITV’s Loose Women.

Louisa said: “We have cancelled it. I said let’s stop trying and now officially it could go ahead but it’s too late now, it’s all gone out of the window!”

However, news of pregnancy filled the lovebirds with joy as the actress announced on Mother’s day that they were expecting their first born child together.

Ben and Louisa live in a four bedroom house in North London so there’s plenty of room for more little ones.

The star has now wrapped filming on the set of EastEnders to enjoy her maternity leave, but there’s no doubt she’ll be back again to carry on acting out more impactful storylines.
