Violent motorcyclist in Croydon tasered after attacking two police officers

Detectives from the Met Police are appealing for witnesses after two officers were attacked following a traffic stop.

One police officer suffered a concussion and a second officer was left with a suspected fracture following the incident on Thursday, December 30.

The Met Police’s south area command safer transport team stopped a man, 23, riding a motorcycle at Cherry Tree Green, in south Croydon at 10am but he then became violent towards officers.

A taser was subsequently deployed as the incident escalated and a knife was recovered at the scene.

In a statement from police, a spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating an incident that left two officers injured are appealing for witnesses.

“At around 10am on Thursday, December 30 officers stopped a man riding a motorcycle at Cherry Tree Green, Croydon.

“The man, aged 23, became violent during the stop. He was detained following Taser deployment. A knife was recovered at the scene.”
