A teenager has been stabbed to death this evening (Thursday, December 30) in one of Croydon’s most popular parks.
The 15-year-old couldn’t be saved despite frantic attempts from police and paramedics.
The schoolboy’s killer remains on the loose with no arrests having been made so far.
The Met Police were called to reports of an attack in Ashburton Park at about 7pm.
“Officers attended and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from stab injuries,” a spokesperson said.

Police got to the park first and “immediately provided first aid” while they waited for paramedics from the London Ambulance Service to arrive,
However, the boy died just over half an hour later from his injuries.

“Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.36pm,” the spokesperson added. “His next of kin have been informed.”
A murder investigation has now been launched which will be led by the Specialist Crime Command.
A crime scene remains in place at the park, which is close to Woodside tram stop and in past years has hosted funfairs and circuses.
The victim has not yet been named by police.
