Royal Family: New HBO animated comedy show The Prince slammed as ‘cruel and unnecessary’ for mocking Prince George

A new Family Guy-style animated series called The Prince depicts Prince George as an explicit, spoiled brat who calls the Queen “a bad b*tch”.

The whole royal family, including Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, are targeted by the programme, which is streaming on US network HBO Max.

In one scene Prince George turns to a butler and asks: “Excuse me, do you have any tea that doesn’t taste of p***?”

The Queen is shown as a gangster boss who reads The Sun and in one scene she shoots an aide to death. An impressed Prince George then says: “She’s such a bad b*tch.”

Royal author Angela Levin, who wrote a biography on Harry, said: “It is appalling and incredibly bad taste to mock and depict Prince George and Louis and Charlotte.

“They are young children who need protecting and this is totally unnecessary.

“It is going much too far. They are bound to see it and it is unfair to do this to children.

“It is cruel and unnecessarily so. It is disgusting. They wouldn’t like it if it was their children.”

However, Scottish comedian Leo Kearse defended the cartoon on Good Morning Britain. He told the viewers of the ITV show that George’s future as the head of state meant he was not off-limits.

Leo said: “If this is a future head of state, then it is not really punching down to mock him. The people making the cartoon aren’t doing anything wrong.

“Prince George is not going to see the cartoon. He’s eight years old and he’ll probably see it in 10 years time and anybody who shows him the cartoon, they’re the person doing the bad thing.”

Viewers of the cartoon have also commented on how insensitive it was of the show to joke about Prince Philip, who died in April aged 99.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier said the portrayal of Philip is particularly “unpleasant”.

“That’s clearly quite sick in my opinion and a very unfair thing to do, and similarly picking on the children is over the top,” he said.

In the cartoon he is a walking corpse near death, and often shows him struggling to breathe.

Harry and Meghan are not shown in the best light

Prince Harry is one of the family members who gets most grilled on the show. Voiced by Orlando Bloom, Harry is shown to be an dumb idiot.

One episode centres around him going to a supermarket to get milk in LA. He says to wife Meghan: “The most incredible thing happened.

“I found this place — you’re not going to believe it. Stacks and stacks of food as far as your eye could see and people just roaming the corridors taking it.”

And there was never going to be any chance Meghan was going to avoid grief from the programme – she is portrayed in the show as a gold-digger.

What do you think of the decision to make a spoof animated series of the royals? Let us know in the comments.
