The late Duke of Edinburgh was known for making a comment or two in his time and the title of “most outspoken” royal could arguably be given to him.
But when you look into it, he is not the only member of the family to utter some witty comebacks.
While the Queen, as the head of the firm, usually toes a more professional line when talking to the public, on a number of occasions she has managed to respond in a sassily funny yet dignified manner – quite a feat when you think about it!
Take, for instance, the time she was told she looked like the Queen of England, while out shopping.

The queen had a funny encounter as she walked into a shop
The situation alone is pretty comical, but how she responded was the cherry on the cake.
It all started when the Queen decided to have a spot of afternoon tea at Sandringham House, Marie Claire reported.
She was just about tuck in when she noticed she was out of cake.
The monarch decided to buy some, so she nipped into her local shop.
According to artist Juliet Pannett (who the Queen told the story to as she was being painted), the monarch walked towards the store wearing a headscarf.
An elderly lady spoke to her as she was about to enter and said: “Good heavens, you look just like the Queen.”

Her Majesty replied with “How reassuring,” before picking up some cake.
On another occasion, the Queen was on a walk near Balmoral and was again wearing her famous headscarf.
A group of American tourists stopped her and said: “Have you met the Queen?”
Apparently, she turned to a royal protection officer who had accompanied her on the stroll and said: “I’ve never met the Queen… but this policeman has.”
